BRAINSPOTTING

The idea that time heals all wounds is incorrect. Time BURIES many traumatic wounds deeply in our unconscious memories. Our bodies continue to react to these buried memories and traumas but our conscious mind doesn’t know what is going on. For people who have been in therapy but are seeking a therapist with new techniques to find and release these traumatic memories, Brainspotting is exciting and revolutionary. With focus and precision, one can find with eye positions (Brainspots) where the trauma, anxiety, depression, or behavioral problems are held in the brain. This allows the brain to process from the inside out and from the bottom up.

sensorimotor Psychotherapy

The understanding of how trauma lives in the limbic area of the brain and in the body, means that we must work with the whole person. When a trigger occurs, the body response is almost immediate. The body instantly prepares for flight, fight, freeze, or submission. This is at the heart of how the body processes. These reactions to threat, imagined or real, are true in all mammals. The difference in human beings is our emotional memory is much stronger than in other mammals. Additionally, we are able, with help, to understand what is happening and to make positive changes.

EMDR - Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

EMDR, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is a form of therapy that helps people heal from trauma or other distressing life experiences. EMDR therapy has been extensively researched and has demonstrated effectiveness for trauma.

EFCT - emotionally focused therapy

EFCT, or Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy, does not rely on unexpressed thoughts but unexpressed, and usually vulnerable, feelings and emotions. EFCT is a process that helps couples discover and then express these hidden feelings. With the help of an EFCT-trained therapist, it begins as one person takes a small emotional risk, and their partner learns to both hear and respond to this risk. This in turn allows the listening partner to take a similar risk. Over a relatively short period of time, the couple rediscover one another at a deeper and more rewarding level.

we believe…

Any therapy which consists of only talking cannot complete the task of healing deep wounds.
......it has been our experience that we do not change from reading alone, we change in the company of another person who can listen and can hear the heart and hurt along with the words.
