invitational interventions

Evolutions in Therapy has also led to Revolutions in Intervention. Addiction and mental health issues do not land on only one person in a family, addiction is a family problem.

Addiction is almost never a choice.  It looks like it from the outside but that is an error in understanding.  For a family member to begin the recovery process, everyone needs to receive the same information, including the person with the addiction.

It begins with one member contacting me. We will then set up a family meeting including close friends when appropriate. At the family meeting, the person with the addiction or other mental or physical problem, is invited to the family meeting as each person is equally important.

The degree of continuing success with abstinence has been shown to be significantly higher when the identified person with the difficulty is a part of the process from the beginning. They then have the ability to choose a form of recovery, based on new education, as do all the family members.

What I offer to families begins with a consultation which will allow us to make a plan towards healthier ways of being together – both as individuals and as a family unit.

When one member experiences a physical, mental or emotional, or physical problem,  it is like throwing a rock in a pond.  The ripples go out from the first contact and impact everyone.

You can contact me here on the website,  or call me at 916-755-6139.  We can make a plan together.  An initial meeting needs to be in my office, but the family meeting can be at my place of business, or in your home.
